Children’s Health Prevention: A National Priority to Be Embedded in Local Initiatives in Collaboration with Mayors

Honorable Member of the House, Honorable Member of the Senate,

Children’s health prevention can no longer be viewed as a secondary policy. It must become a cornerstone of these initiatives, on par with educational success, a safe school environment, and quality of life.

Through the Les Repères du Goût Training Center, we have been working for several years with schools that have made this strategic choice. The results are tangible and measurable: an improved school climate, better classroom attention, support for teachers, children taking on more responsibility, and local stakeholders who are engaged and valued.

Today, failing to incorporate health prevention and the principles of sustainable eating into local policies amounts to choosing inaction. Conversely, committing to this path means investing in the long term: in our children, our schools, and our shared way of life.

Because prevention among children is neither a slogan nor a convenient talking point. It is a major political responsibility and must take center stage in the public debate.

An issue that is still given too little attention

At every election cycle, the priorities are clear: public safety, urban planning, taxation, and the region’s appeal. These are legitimate concerns.
But one fundamental issue is still too often pushed to the sidelines: children’s health and well-being.

Yet the warning signs are mounting: chronic fatigue, attention disorders, dyslexia, eating disorders, and tensions in social interactions. These issues are no longer isolated cases. They leave children vulnerable, complicate teachers’ work, and place a strain on families.

Failing to act today means accepting that these difficulties will become entrenched.

Local Governments at the Heart of the Response

Municipalities have the tools to take action, with our help and expertise.
An entire local ecosystem can be mobilized to support a genuine public policy focused on nutritional prevention, taste education, and civic engagement.

We need to make clear policy decisions. No more wasted efforts.

A calmer, more attentive child means a more peaceful school, stronger teaching staff, a more cohesive community, and inspiring children to participate in sports for their overall well-being.

A Call for Concrete Commitments

As the upcoming elections approach, citizens are no longer satisfied with mere intentions. They expect specific, tangible, and measurable commitments.

Children's health can't wait any longer. It calls for action—right now.

Following up on my previous messages regarding GDPR compliance, I would like to emphasize the need to establish a comprehensive, clear, and effective organizational structure.

The goal is to organize our processes in a consistent manner to ensure both regulatory compliance and improved day-to-day operational management.

In particular, this involves:

  • a clarification of roles and responsibilities,
  • the formalization of procedures,
  • and the implementation of appropriate monitoring tools.

I am available to discuss specific steps to take and to make rapid progress on this issue.
